Glenview Summer Festival, June 26

Glenview Summer Festival, formerly known as the Glenview Street Sale, will take place Saturday, June 26, on Glenview Road, west of Waukegan to Harlem Avenue, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.This event, hosted by the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, allows Glenview merchants a chance to showcase their wares at bargain prices. In addition, area restaurants will sell samples of their delicacies, artists/crafters will show their hand-made jewelry, pottery, etc. Glenview Service Clubs will be represented with raffles and activities.
Come for the food and live entertainment! Fun for the whole family!

Collection Highlight

This month's Reference book display celebrates the 175th Anniversary of the birth of one of Glenview's most famous native sons - Robert Kennicott - Smithsonian scholar and a founder of the Chicago Academy of Sciences. Visit The Grove National Historic Landmark, 1421 Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview, on June 5 and 6 for the grand opening of a special exhibition honoring Kennicott, including tours of the Kennicott family home, exhibits, and a lecture. The exhibition runs until October 3.

Studying for an Exam??

The next date for taking the ACT college admission exam is June 12. Do you know someone that is preparing to take this exam? If so they should know about the exam preparation resources that the Glenview Public Library offers online through the GPL website. Your library subscribes to Learning Express Library for its members to use in the library or from their home computers. Log on with your library card number and practice for the ACT exam or many others. Learning Express Library offers students of all ages a chance to prepare with exam questions similar to the ones they will find on the actual test.

Document Destruction Event

Now you can safely destroy your unneeded documents at no cost by shredding and recycling them at the SWANCC Document Destruction Event on Saturday, June 12, sponsored by the Village of Glenview and Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). Drop by Public Works, 1333 Shermer Road between 9-11 AM. Please remove your paper from three-ring binders, take off any binder clips, and put it all in a paper bag or cardboard box.
