Tax Break on School Supplies Aug.6-15

The State of Illinois is giving students a sales tax break on the purchase of school supplies from August 6-15. This results in a 5% reduction in the total tax . Local taxes will still be charged.
Qualifying items include clothing and footwear under $100 retail price and many traditional school supplies.
Items not covered include computers and related computer supplies; clothing and footwear over $100 retail; art supplies and textbooks.

Elderhostel/Exploritas Now Called Road Scholar


The not-for-profit educational vacation company sponsored by Elderhostel has changed its name to Road Scholar. It had previously changed its name to Exploritas.
The group sponsors both domestic and international tours with an educational intent. You can sign up for their e-mail newsletter or receive catalogs of their learning opportunities in the mail.
