Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Members of Joseph M. Sesterhenn Post 166 of the American Legion are sponsoring a Memorial Day parade and ceremony in cooperation with the Village of Glenview on Monday, May 28.

The parade will step off at 9 a.m. from the Village commuter parking lot at the corner of Grove and Depot streets, proceed on Grove Street to Pine Street, then south on Pine to Glenview Road, and then east on Glenview Road to the Veterans Memorial at the corner of Glenview Road and River Drive. After all units are in place, a short ceremony will follow ending around 11 a.m.

Scheduled dignitaries for the parade are: Post 166 Commander William Bickley; Auxiliary Unit 166 President Shirley Howenstine; Past Post 166 Commander Wayne Carle Sr., who is master of ceremonies; Post 166 member Al Kotlarz, who is parade marshall; Col. Allen Andreasen, USMC retired and Post 166 member, who is the guest speaker; Village President Kerry Cummings; the Rev. Gerald Walsh, associate pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church; and the Rev. Dr. Douglas Busby of Glenview Community Church.

Scheduled to participate in the parade are: various motorcycles; Glenview Fire Department Color Guard; Post 166 Color Guard and Rifle Squad; Glenview Police Department Color Guard; Glenbrook South High School Marching Band; Maple Junior High School Band; classic cars from Rodders in Motion; Michael Lynch and his vintage Navy fire truck; and Brownies, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from various Glenview troops.

Navy Band Great Lakes Concert

The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble is commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 and the bicentennial of "The Star Spangled Banner" with a special free Memorial Day concert at the Glenview Community Church in Glenview, May 30, beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Glenview Community Church is located at 1000 Elm Street in Glenview. No tickets are required for this free concert.
